The mission of Turn Tulsa Pink is to bring to light the local grassroots charities that provide services and support to all people affected by cancer in our communities. We Believe Charity Begins at Home.
Recently the Breast Impressions Foundation which Turn Tulsa Pink was a project, had their non profit status revoked due to an administrative oversight and failure to file 990 forms with the IRS. However two days after receiving notice of the revocation, all forms and the request for retroactive reinstatement (back to May 2013) was sent to the IRS via Priority Mail on August 19, 2013. We are confident that this is just a temporary problem.
A local television station aired a report about this on September 12, to point out that any donations received after May 15 would not receive a tax deductible receipt. Fortunately most of the donations that come to Turn Tulsa Pink through Breast Impressions are small – and the donors are not looking for a tax write off but rather a way to help people fighting cancer. We now ask until this problem is resolved you check out our Charities Page and donate to them directly because the Spirit of Pink, that of Passion, Power and Love will hopefully not stop due to a clerical error.
The station was sent this and we share it with you here:
Statement from Judi Grove from Breast Impressions Foundation
Due to an administrative oversight we failed to send the proper forms to the IRS. Upon learning of this error, we immediately sent all the information required to the IRS along with a retroactive reinstatement request and the fees to accomplish this as quickly as possible. The station was sent copies of everything sent to the IRS.
I want to assure everyone who has supported the Turn Tulsa Pink project under Breast Impressions Foundation, that all of the funds we have collected have gone to the charities we support, individuals we were able to help fighting the battle who did not fit the criteria of the charities guidelines, and provided scholarships to college bound students affected by cancer.
We ask that you continue to support the charities we have highlighted and supported while the paperwork is processed, because you and they are making a huge difference in the lives of those fighting cancer in our communities. We are not going to let a clerical error stop the upcoming event on Sept. 21st and it will benefit the local charities directly as they would have been through Turn Tulsa Pink. The need is still great and that has and always will be our primary focus. We are counting on those who care about the cancer patients we all know and love.
We are confident this issue will be resolved very soon, and are truly sorry of any concern this oversight has caused our supporters.
Judi Grove, Director of Breast Impressions Foundation.
